Welcome to my blog series dedicated to author interviews. The purpose of this series is to introduce authors to a wider range of potential readers and provide readers with deeper information about the interviewed authors. I hope you learn something interesting about each author. Today's author interview is with Terry Reid. Terry answers questions about herself and her new book "Stars and Satellites."
1) Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?
This book is intended for adults and young adults who are into paranormal fantasy adventures. I think people would enjoy reading this book because its not like anything else out there. It's about a 20 year old woman who has to live with her guardian angel, who everyone can see. Yet the twist in the tale is that Alex, the guardian angel, is not conventional. He is cheeky, a little arrogant and funny. Hayley, the one he is charged to protect, is a little more serious which make the character dynamics bounce off each other. This is a fun, humourous, if at times dark story of the two of them coming to terms with living together.
2) Who is your favorite character from your book and why?
Definitely Alex. As mentioned above, he is a guardian angel who doesn't like to play by the rules of 'keeping out of sight from humans' and just wants to have fun. He enjoys winding the other characters up and has a quick wit, which makes him funny and fun to write about.
3) Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
Probably about 99 per cent of the book has came out of my imagination but the original concept for Alex's character came from a dream I had. The train scene early on in the book where Hayley is cheating rail fares and Alex takes her ticket to teach her a lesson was part of that dream.
4) Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I try to have an outline before I start writing, like a general idea of where the story will go and how it will end but I don't over plan. A lot of it comes out of my imagination as I go.
5) What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
I am always reading something different each week as I review a different book each Friday on my blog but just now, as I am writing this, I am reading The Nightlife New York in ebook format.
